Emmanuel Pahud

Ha iniziato gli studi musicali a Roma, per proseguirli successivamente a Bruxelles e al Conservatorio di Parigi, dove nel 1990 ottiene il Premier Prix. Prosegue quindi gli studi sotto la guida di Aurèle Nicolet. Tra i riconoscimenti ricevuti figurano i premi della Fondazione Menuhin e della Tribuna Internazionale dei Giovani Interpreti dell’UNESCO. Una lunga serie di affermazioni in concorsi internazionali (Duino 1988, Kōbe 1989) culmina nel Primo Premio all’unanimità al leggendario Concorso di Ginevra, sua città natale, nel 1992. Inizia così la sua straordinaria carriera solistica, cameristica e orchestrale: a soli ventidue anni Emmanuel Pahud diventa Primo Flauto solista dei Berliner Philharmoniker, sotto la direzione di Claudio Abbado, ruolo che ricopre fino al 2000 e che riprende nel 2002, dopo un interludio di un anno dedicato all’insegnamento al Conservatorio Superiore di Ginevra. Nel 1998 è stato insignito della Victoire de la Musique Classique come solista strumentale dell’anno.

He began his musical studies in Rome, continuing them in Brussels and at the Paris Conservatoire, where he was awarded the Premier Prix in 1990. He then continued his studies under the guidance of Aurèle Nicolet. Among the distinctions he has received are awards from the Menuhin Foundation and the UNESCO International Rostrum of Young Performers. A long series of successes at international competitions (Duino 1988, Kōbe 1989) culminated in the unanimous award of First Prize at the legendary Geneva Competition, in his native city, in 1992. This marked the beginning of his remarkable career as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player: at just twenty-two, Emmanuel Pahud became Principal Flute of the Berliner Philharmoniker under Claudio Abbado, a position he held until 2000 and resumed in 2002, after a one-year interlude devoted to teaching at the Geneva Conservatoire. In 1998, he was awarded the Victoire de la Musique Classique as Instrumental Soloist of the Year.
