Sebastian Jacot

Nato a Ginevra, Sébastian Jacot ha costruito una ricca e variegata carriera come musicista orchestrale, solista e insegnante. Dopo gli studi con Jacques Zoon, inizia il suo viaggio professionale a diciotto anni come Assistant Principal Flute dell’Orchestra Filarmonica di Hong Kong. Successivamente si esibisce con la Saito Kinen Festival Orchestra e con la Mito Chamber Orchestra prima di unirsi alla Gewandhaus Orchestra di Lipsia e alla Berlin Philharmonic. Vincitore dei premi Kobe, Nielsen e ARD, Sébastian combina curiosità e versatilità nel suo lavoro. Collabora ampiamente a progetti attraverso l’Europa, il Giappone e gli Stati Uniti d’America, dai recital alla musica da camera, fino ad esibirsi con la Camerata Pacifica in California e l’Ensemble Contrechamps a Ginevra. Appassionato docente, tiene masterclass in giro per il mondo e ha insegnato alla University of the Arts di Brema, prima di entrare alla Hanns Eisler Hochschule für Musik di Berlino. Oltre la musica, Sébastian ha un background come sassofonista, acrobata e skater che riflette la sua convinzione dello stretto legame tra corpo e mente nella performance. Maggiore di sei fratelli, continua a esplorare progetti che associano musica e movimento. Suona un flauto Brannen-Cooper in oro 14 carati con testata Brannen-Lafin in oro 18 carati, oltre a un flauto in legno del 1999.

Born in Geneva, Sébastian Jacot has built a rich and varied career as an orchestral musician, soloist, and teacher. After studies with Jacques Zoon, he began his professional journey at eighteen as Assistant Principal Flute of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. He later performed with the Saito Kinen Festival and Mito Chamber Orchestras before joining the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig and the Berlin Philharmonic. Winner of the Kobe, Nielsen, and ARD flute competitions, Sébastian combines curiosity and versatility in his work. He collaborates widely, from recital and chamber music projects across Europe, Japan, and the U.S. to performances with Camerata Pacifica in California and Ensemble Contrechamps in Geneva. A passionate teacher, he has given masterclasses around the world and taught at the University of the Arts in Bremen before joining the faculty of the Hanns Eisler Hochschule für Musik in Berlin. Outside of music, Sébastian’s background as a saxophonist, acrobat, and former figure skater reflects his belief in the close link between body and mind in performance. The eldest of six siblings, he continues to explore projects that bring together music and movement. He plays a Brannen-Cooper 14k flute with a Brannen-Lafin 18k headjoint and a 1999 wooden flute.
